Early Intervention

Specialist support for young children and their families

At Craighalbert, our Early Intervention Programmes are designed specifically for children in Scotland aged 0-5 years who are at risk of developing a neurological condition or have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of a neurological condition.

Our programmes offer targeted support to help your child thrive during these crucial early years. Each programme is crafted with your child’s wellbeing and early learning and development in mind, offering a blend of expert guidance and practical strategies.

Our Early Intervention Programmes are fully funded, meaning there is no cost to families. We understand the challenges you may be facing and are here to provide information, support, and a supportive community.

"It was lovely relaxing environment after spending so much in hospital. It was so nice to see my daughter engaging in an activity and have something catered to her needs.  I feel she became more interactive and saw some neurological developments."

Assessment Process

We know that the abilities and the complexity of communication, learning, health and care needs of our youngest children is evolving, therefore we do not have a formal assessment process for participation in any of our early intervention programmes.

We do need to confirm that your child is aged 0-5 years and considered at risk of developing or have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of a neurological condition. You will then normally be invited to participate in an initial block of Music Space sessions during which our multi-disciplinary staff team will start to get to know your child and you: their likes and dislikes, abilities and additional support needs and how best to motivate and challenge them to learn new skills; and your individual family circumstances.

At this stage we will agree some shared goals with you and identify which of our programmes would best meet both your needs, early intervention, nursery or early primary.
