Learning, Care, and Therapy Practitioners (LCTPs)
Passionate about helping children reach their potential
At Craighalbert, our Learning, Care, and Therapy Practitioners (LCTPs) provide essential day-to-day support for children with complex communication, learning, health, and care needs. Working closely with teachers, therapists and families, they play a key role in helping each child feel safe, cared for and ready to learn.
LCTPs support every aspect of a child’s day at Craighalbert, from personal care and medical routines, to therapy support and learning. They know each child well and build strong, trusting relationships that help children feel secure and understood.
LCTPs are often the first to notice small changes in a child’s mood, health or behaviour. Their close observation helps the wider team respond quickly and effectively to individual needs.
They contribute to planning, share insights at team meetings, and maintain clear, accurate records of care and support.
Communication with families is a key part of their role, helping to ensure consistency between school and home.
What truly sets our LCTPs apart is their warmth, patience and dedication. They are passionate about helping children reach their potential, whether that’s achieving a new learning goal, becoming more independent, or simply having a joyful day.
Through their care, compassion and professionalism, our LCTPs help create a positive, inclusive environment where every child is valued, supported and celebrated.
Specialist Training
With specialist training in areas such as moving and handling, feeding (enteral and oral), personal care, medical protocols and communication, our LCTPs are confident and skilled in providing high-quality care with dignity and respect. They also support therapeutic interventions, sensory regulation and learning activities under the guidance of teachers and therapists.
