Specialist School: Promoting curiosity, creativity and a love for learning

At our Specialist School, we nurture potential, foster independence, and inspire lifelong learning for every child and young person.

We are specialists in supporting pupils aged 5-19 years with complex communication, learning, health and care need through personalised plans and a dedicated learning and therapy team.

School placements are available for children aged 5-19 years, and we can offer full-time or partnership placements.

We offer a combined approach of healthcare, therapeutic interventions, and education to maximise each child’s potential, with parents as central partners.

Each child and young person has a highly individualised and bespoke pathway planned in conjunction with families and all relevant services. We work with a wide range of partners to offer our pupils a rounded educational experience.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy aspires to ensure that all the children we work with led full and happy lives.

We focus on helping them participate in meaningful activities (occupations) they need and want to do at school, at home and at play.

We work with children and young people, families, school staff, and the wider team to help overcome challenges relating to daily life activities.

Assessment Process

We understand that children’s needs and abilities are diverse and can evolve over time, so we take a flexible and supportive approach to exploring placements in our nursery and school.

We offer specialist education and therapy for children with complex communication, learning, health, and care needs. If you are interested in a nursery or school place, the first step is to contact us to arrange a visit and an initial discussion. This allows our team to get to know your child and family circumstances, and for you to learn more about our approach.

Following this, an assessment will take place to help determine whether a Craighalbert placement would be suitable and beneficial for your child. If a placement is recommended, families will be supported through the process of submitting a placing request to their local authority.

We know this journey can feel overwhelming, and our team will be here to guide and support you every step of the way.
