We are delighted to share that, thanks to the generous support of Children’s Aid, we have recently installed a brand-new track and hoist system in our hydrotherapy pool area. Their donation of £24,763 has enabled us to make a significant and lasting improvement to the safety, accessibility, and quality of experience for the children and families who rely on this essential space.

Hydrotherapy plays a vital role at Craighalbert, offering children with complex communication, learning, health, and care needs the chance to move freely, relax physically, build confidence, and engage in therapeutic activities that support their development. For many of the children we support, the pool is one of the few places where they can experience movement and comfort that simply isn’t possible elsewhere.

A Meaningful Difference for Children, Families, and Staff

The installation of the new track and hoist system is already transforming the way families and staff use the pool. It brings immediate and long-term benefits, including:

  • Safer, simpler transfers into and out of the pool

  • Improved comfort and postural care for children with complex physical needs

  • Reduced physical strain on staff and caregivers

  • Enhanced participation and engagement in water-based therapy

  • Greater accessibility, enabling more children to benefit from hydrotherapy

This project has been a huge success, and we are already seeing the positive impact day-to-day. The equipment is enabling children to access the pool with dignity and ease, while giving families peace of mind and supporting our staff to deliver the highest standard of care.

A Warm Welcome to Children’s Aid Trustees

We were delighted to welcome two trustees from Children’s Aid to Craighalbert to see the new equipment in place. During their visit, they met some of the children who use the pool and saw first-hand how their generous support is making a real and immediate difference.

Their visit reinforced the importance of strong partnerships between funders and specialist services like ours.

Why Funding Matters

As a charity supporting children with the most complex needs, donations and grant funding are essential in helping us improve our facilities, expand access, and deliver life-changing programmes. Investments like this one from Children’s Aid directly enhance the quality of life for children and young people while creating safer, more inclusive environments for families and staff.

Every contribution, large or small, helps us continue to innovate, remove barriers, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Thank You

On behalf of all the children, families, and staff at Craighalbert, thank you to Children’s Aid for their generosity, partnership, and belief in our work. Your support has made an immediate and lasting difference, and we are deeply grateful.

If you are interested in supporting our work or learning more about how your organisation can make an impact, we would be delighted to hear from you.
