Investing in Expertise: Advancing Respiratory Practice at Craighalbert

At Craighalbert, we are committed to continually developing the knowledge and expertise of our team to ensure we provide the highest quality of care and support for the children and families we work with.

We are pleased to share that Joanna, one of our Physiotherapists, recently attended the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP) Level 2 Advancing Your Practice respiratory course. This specialist training has further strengthened her knowledge and understanding of respiratory treatment approaches for children with complex neurodisabilities, an area that is critical to supporting health, comfort and overall wellbeing.

Ongoing professional development is a key part of how we advance practice within Craighalbert. By investing in opportunities such as this, we ensure our team remains at the forefront of evidence-informed practice and continues to deliver the best possible outcomes for the children and young people we support.

We are also delighted to share that Joanna has been accepted onto the APCP Respiratory Committee as a temporary member, providing maternity leave cover. This is a significant achievement and a reflection of both her expertise and commitment to the field. In this role, she will contribute to the wider development of respiratory practice, supporting knowledge sharing and professional standards across the sector.

Joanna is looking forward to contributing to the important work of the committee, and we are proud to support her as she takes this next step in her professional journey.

Her involvement not only benefits her own development, but also strengthens Craighalbert’s role in contributing to and shaping best practice at a national level.
