We are pleased to share that the latest edition of the Craighalbert Courier is now available to read. This issue captures another busy and rewarding term across the Centre, celebrating the achievements, experiences and progress of our children and young people.

You can view the full newsletter here: School Newsletter

Navy background with the Craighalbert logo and green title bubbles reading “Craighalbert Courier” and “Issue 9, April 2026” in white, alongside an image of a pupil dressed as Stick Man for World Book Week.

This edition highlights the wide range of learning taking place across the school, with each class engaging in meaningful and accessible experiences through the four contexts for learning. From creative interdisciplinary topics such as life cycles, sustainability and storytelling, to practical skills development in communication, literacy and maths, it is clear that our learners continue to thrive in a supportive and engaging environment.

There is a strong focus throughout the newsletter on pupil voice and participation. Our Pupil Council has been actively gathering feedback, helping to shape areas such as lunchtime menus and play experiences, while whole school assemblies have celebrated creativity, achievement and important global themes such as World Book Week and World Water Day.

This term also saw a continued emphasis on rights-based learning, with a focus on Article 31 of the UNCRC, celebrating every child’s right to play, rest and engage in enjoyable experiences. Across the Centre, learners explored this through sensory activities, interaction and shared storytelling, reinforcing that every child has a voice and belongs within our community.

Innovation continues to play an important role in our work. The introduction of 3D printing has opened up new opportunities for personalised learning and independence, allowing staff to create bespoke resources tailored to each young person’s needs and interests.

The newsletter also celebrates wider achievements and experiences, including successes in Qualifications Scotland awards, community visits, partnerships and special moments shared across the Centre. It is a reminder of the strong sense of community that underpins everything we do at Craighalbert.

Looking ahead, there is much to be excited about in Term 4, with new interdisciplinary topics, outdoor learning through Forest School, and continued opportunities for learners to explore, achieve and have their voices heard.

As always, we would like to thank all of our families for their continued support. Your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in everything we achieve together as a community.

We hope you enjoy reading this latest edition.
