We are delighted to share that the October edition of our School Newsletter is now available! As we reach the end of a vibrant and eventful start to the academic year, this edition reflects the wonderful learning, exploration, and achievements taking place across our school.
This term marked the launch of our brand-new Forest School, an initiative that has quickly become a highlight for many of our pupils. The children have embraced the opportunity to learn and explore outdoors—discovering nature, building confidence in new environments, and experiencing the joy of outdoor learning in all seasons. It has been inspiring to see how this approach is supporting sensory development, communication, and independence.
We are also thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award. This achievement recognises the commitment of our entire school community to listening to our pupils, valuing their ideas, and creating a respectful, inclusive environment where every child feels heard. It celebrates our belief that pupils of all abilities have the right to express themselves, make choices, and be actively involved in decisions that shape their school experience.
In addition, all staff have refreshed their training in PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) to further strengthen communication across the school. This ongoing commitment ensures that every member of our team continues to develop their skills and understanding, enabling us to support children’s expressive and receptive communication in the most meaningful, effective ways.
Our October newsletter captures these developments and so much more—from classroom learning to special moments, celebrations, and snapshots of daily life at Craighalbert. It reflects our continued dedication to creating opportunities where our pupils can learn, connect, and achieve in ways that truly matter to them.
We hope you enjoy reading this edition and joining us in celebrating the progress, curiosity, and joy that have filled our school this term.
